Hankook Supermarket has Freshly Roasted Seaweed!

On our way back from Gilroy Gardens, we dropped by Hankook Supermarket in Sunnyvale.
It's a Korean supermarket that was advertised in the local Chinese newspaper. My mom wanted me to pick up some things so we dropped by to check it out.

The supermarket is very neat and organized. If you have ever been to Jusco in Hong Kong, I think it is a smaller version. In addition to the regular supermarket aisles, there was also a salad-bar style area where you could buy kimchi, bulgogi, kalbi short ribs, and other Korean prepared goodies. In the back there are mini-boutique stores: a bakery, a clothing store, and a fast food Korean restaurant. We ended up eating at the fast food Korean place. We had korean sushi, korean chicken wings, and Jap-Chae (vermicelli noodles?) all for $14.50. You need to bus your own tables, but you're never rushed out of there.

The highlight of my visit was a stall roasting fresh seaweed sans MSG. The woman roasts the seaweed sheets in front of you and bags them there. You have the option of buying Lightly Salted or Regular. We ended up buying the lightly salted; $4.50 for a HUGE pack. I remember the days when I'd buy seaweed packs in Chinatown for 10 cents a pack! The good 'ol days were when a small 10 cent pack would satisfy the seaweed craving! We'll definitely be returning for more crunchy seaweed!
